July 25, 2016

dear everyone,
well. another crazy week. Greenies come tomorrow!! Im so nervous. so, since transfers were last week, and greenies come tomorrow, sister filoso and I have been companions for a whole week! its been awesome, though stamford is a little upset about the missionaries just coming and going. it makes sense, they've been through about five in one transfer now.
but sister filoso and I have had a crazy fun week, combining both peterborough and stamford areas this week. so its been fun, from gypsies to beaches.. and that's probably why we are only together for a week..
it sounds like you also had a pretty crazy week mom. maybe one day we'll find that arch. haha. I cant believe jesse is going on a mission. i would say i missed camping, but finding that beach was fun enough.. and not even beachy. sad. :(
so to answer your questions now,
*How is training? I'll let you know next week when I'm actually doing it.
*what was your favorite thing you ate last week?  Who made it/ or gave it to you? the weirdest thing I ate this week was pizza, at a restaurant. we had a dinner appointment, but they couldn't make it, so they told us to go to this place and they would "treat" us to pizza. it was really good, though.
*Tell us about the strangest person you met or talked to. The strangest person I have met is.. elder hill. or the gypsies. from Slovak. peterborough is crazy.
funny story of the week, elder hill and his comp, elder bowen met a crazy white mage, who came to church on sunday, and elder hill got punched by him.... and we missed it because we went to church in stamford. sister filoso was so sad she missed it.
*How are you doing with your driving?  Any close calls? I really only get honked at about once a day. sometimes less than that. :) but other than that, im getting a lot better.
*What lesson have you learned this week? life is crazy. and sometimes, even the beach stinks. (literally)
*What are you studying in the scriptures? Im reading in mosiah. about alma and abanadai and all that jazz. lots of lessons to be learned there too.
*Any miracles? we finally got to teach our investigator on a date. she's nine, but her parents keep postponing and cancelling lessons (life is a busy thing). but we taught her this week! one step closer to baptism.
that about sums up my week. love you all!
love,

Dear Parents and Stake Presidents:

We have had quite a few missionaries coming in the office this week for transfers and training.  After chatting with them and over hearing some of their comments, I felt a need to write a little note to all of you at “home.”

Even though our missionaries’ lifeline is e-mail, and e-mail is the fastest way to share family news and updates, your missionaries still long for those letters in the mail.  Some missionaries get “tons” of mail in a constant flow.  Others sadly are happy just to get something in an envelope, even if it is just some paperwork from the office.

Please encourage extended family members to send a card, a brief note, or a chatty letter to your son or daughter.  Share about family or church activities this summer, a church lesson or article you liked, or you can write to them about your testimony of particular points of doctrine.  Ask ward members, home teachers, clerks, YM/YW advisors and classes, primary classes, just ask them to send something in the mail.  Birthdays and holidays don’t come around often enough, and it lifts their spirits just to know someone is thinking of them and they haven’t been forgotten.

Thank you for all your support and for sharing them for a season while they serve the Lord.

Sincerely,

Sister Burt  - Mission Secretary

July 18, 2016

dear everyone,
happy Monday!! I'm sure missionaries are the only people who are actually excited for Monday mornings. :) unless, of course you need to drive half an hour away to get your car serviced then Mondays feel just like everyone else's.
also, what a beautiful summer day! its so hot! what is this? what is this yellow thing in the sky?
its great!

so this week. basically another slow one. :( and having a car makes you so lazy. its a blessing and a curse. but- on the bright side, I haven't killed us yet! haha.

what else do you need to know? actually, a list of questions to answer every week would be nice... that would help my lack of desire to type an email every time I sit down to write them. :)

highlights of this week have been:
- last Sunday, I gave a talk in sacrament, a last minute primary lesson, AND the relief society lesson. needless to say, I was exhausted by the end of church. thankfully this week I didn't have to do anything.
- our fhe with our lovely south African members, true sister wadsworth style, (i'll try to send pictures so you'll understand) we made tiaras. :) best fhe ever. they loved it.
-us trying to figure out how to put some air into our tyres... the machines are a bit different here... and also car washes are a bit complicated as well. :) (most of our problems usually are with our car.)
- the personal study where I got so excited about the atonement that I kind of accidentally underlined the whole page..... whoops. haha. my appreciation for king Benjamin has grown so much this week!
- getting my companion to call kwik fit for two weeks now. (she hates calling people as much as I still do) haha
-stopping by one really funny less active member, who since we were pretty sure that sister spangler is leaving (she is) took us over to sainsbury's to but lanterns and some yard lights..... I love her. she calls us the wanderer and cheeky its cute. :)
- DODGE NIGHT. so, I am training. sister spangler is going to Nottingham 4 tomorrow. I will have sister filoso for a week, since she is serving in Peterborough and also training. its going to be a great week. :) and a great transfer.

yup. also, a note on patience. I still dont believe that I am very patient. but something each and every one of my companions have told me is how impressed they am at how patient I really am. haha. its definitely something my mission has taught me, especially this transfer. I think that I have learned to be a bit more patient with myself, which is what i really do struggle with. I get easily frustrated by not being able to accomplish the things that i feel I should be able to. (ex. calling people, talking to people, stopping people on the street, training..) especially when I felt that i was at a point in my mission where I should be able to do these without even thinking. the struggle is real! how grateful I am for the atonement!

I love you all so much! enjoy your week!
Love,
-Sister Wadsworth :)

Dear Rachel,
It has been a sad, scary, crazy week.  we started out pretty slow, but, on Wednesday in Panaca there was chaos.
A man set off a car bomb and another bomb.  He was targeting the people who built a house right behind Grandpa Wadsworth's house.  There must have been angels all over Panaca, because no one was seriously hurt, except the bomber, who they discovered committed suicide in the car right after he detonated the bomb.
Glen was out mowing the back lawn and saw it explode.  Grandpa was sitting in his chair in the living room.  The blast blew out all the windows on the back of his house.  Grandpa wasn't hurt at all even though there was glass on him and all around him.  And shrapnel tore small holes in the wall and ceiling just above him.  There are a lot of people who should have been hurt or even killed, but no one was hurt.  Except Crescent.  He was riding his bike nearby, and was hit by a piece of metal.  His shoulder is famous.  There was a picture of it on the news.
There have been news crews and  reporters and FBI and all sorts of people investigating it.  It was such a scary thing to happen, and in Panaca of all places.  But despite all the bad, most of the news reports tell about how everyone in this small town pulled together to help the family whose house was destroyed.  A lot of people were at grandpa's helping clean up, and board up windows.
So after reporting that.  We are all fine.  Oh.  Except for Jacques.  He wrecked on his bike on the scout trip.  He ended up at the ER.  Camden  called me to tell me that Jacques was hurt.  He ended up not breaking anything, but had a few x-rays and a CAT scan to make sure.  He is moving pretty slowly, but he is fine.  He actually crashed on his last run down the hill, in the last 30 minutes of the last day.  So he had all the fun the before he was hurt.  He just had a horrible ride home.  They were in Jackson Hole Wyoming.  Those scouts really know how to have fun.
He got home Wednesday night, so I guess Wednesday was a rotten day all around.
Thursday we had Remi and Keldyn.  Oh, and Grandma has had West and Addy all week while Megan was at Girls Camp.  We've had West over to play everyday so she could have a break.  Ashton and West was a pretty good combination, but Keldyn wasn't overly fond of him.  After they left, we were going to go help Grandpa clean up his house.  They evacuated everyone while they looked for more bombs, but Ann wasn't sure they would be let back in that night.  So we ended up going down on Friday to help.
Saturday there was a RS breadmaking thing.  Natty was asked to help with the nursery, but no one brought any kids.  She and Brynlee and Brooklyn got off easy.  We stayed and helped clean the church after that.
Saturday night we went down to play games with Ann and Todd.  We took the dice game.  It takes forever with 5 people.
Today at church was High Council Sunday.  Wade Poulsen was one of the speakers, and he was also up at Camp Helaman.  He had asked Benson while they were up on the mountain to bear his testimony in church.  So Benson bore his testimony today.  He does have one.  He is growing, but at the same time, he doesn't want to.  It's hard for him and for us.
Bev Peterson and Klark Black are doing a children's choir for Stake conference in August.  Ward choristers are in it too.  The first practice was tonight, and it was pretty fun.  I took Keziah down with me.  She had fun too.  We were supposed to have 10 kids from our ward, but with a lot of them being gone for the summer, we didn't quite make it.  Especially with the "choose 10 children who can sing well and be reverent" rule.

The living room is full of camping stuff.  we are leaving in the morning for Wheeler Peak.  It will just be chelsey, Natty, Abigail, and me.  I tried to talk the boys in to coming, but the would rather go to Camden's.  I'm glad Lauralynn loves them (thanks, Lauralynn!)
That's about it.  I loved your letter last week.  Do I need to ask specific questions every week, or are you going to write us a letter by yourself?
You will be a great trainer.  After watching you be so patient with Benson and his math homework, I think you can do anything.  Just remember to be patient.
I love you.  We will think about you while we are up on the mountain.  I might even order you a scoop of ice cream, of course, then I'd have to eat it for you.  Hmmm.  Good idea.
Work hard and be nice.  And don't forget to pray.  And listen.  You know all this.  So just do what you are supposed to.
Love you!!!
Mom

Dear Rachel,
Well, this has been quite a week.
After chelsey's flight delay, we weren't sure when she would get to Vegas, but we got in the car and started driving anyway.  She called us before we got to Caliente to say she was in Seattle.  So we kept going.  We had a few hours to kill after we got to Vegas, but since it was July 4th, we didn't do much.  Just Home Depot and Toys R Us.  Then we ate at sonic.  Then we waited at the airport for a couple of hours.   But at least the airport was air conditioned!  The car said it was 107 while we were there.  Chelsey got off the plane and got her luggage and we were on our way home.  We got to Alamo just as they were doing their fireworks, so we did get to see fireworks this year.  We got home about 11:30.
Tuesday was a normal day for me.  Taryn and Ashton in the afternoon.
Wednesday was another day.  Natty and I had eye appointments that afternoon.  I am getting bi-focals.  Yeah.
Thursday we had Remi and Keldyn and Taryn and Ashton.  They all played with Natty until Grandma called to see if Natty could come play with Ashlee.  Natty was glad to go, but the kids were sad to see her leave.  Especially Remi.
We have a tarp at the bottom of the playground slide and put the hose on it with some soap.  The boys love it.
Megan and all her kids were at grandma's that afternoon.  Jacques and Benson went to hang with Camden, so they didn't see them.  Chelsey, Natty, and I went on the Echo hike with Megan and her bunch.  Addy stayed with Grandma, but the other 6 all went.  It was a lot of fun.  Cody and Brandon climb like you do.  They were all over the rocks.  West and Megan and I moseyed along.  We took two cars, and parked one at both ends, so we didn't have to walk all the way back.
Friday, Jacques left on the scout trip in the morning.  Benson decided not to go, even though he helped plan it.  He has been a bear lately,  not sure why, but I hope he gets over it soon.  Then we got your dad ready for work.  Finally after everything settled down, we went to Panaca and had a Frehner family bar-b-que at Henry and Shawn's.  It was a lot of fun.  After we ate, Shawn had a couple of games to play.  One was drunken waiter.  Two people spin around, then have to carry a tray of drinks.  It got pretty crazy, and ended up in a water fight.  After that we all went to the spring.  I got to sit and watch Crescent and West, and we had fun trying to catch fish and splashing each other.  When we left the spring, we went to Grandpa Wadsworth's house to visit with him for a few minutes.  He is in Panaca for a month.  Ann is staying with him. We didn't stay long, Ann was at a wedding reception, but we planned a party for the next night.
So on Saturday, we cleaned house, rested, watched tv, then headed down for our "party".  Dinner, games, and popcorn.  Natty picked some games from our house,  HP Uno, Apples to Apples, and Take 5.  We had fun visiting and gaming.
Grandma has West and Addy while Megan has girls camp.  Church was fun, especially Primary.  West knew he wasn't at "his" church.  He didn't want to sit with his class, so he layed on the floor.  Addy helped me lead, sat with ShaRee, and helped Grandma play the piano.
Okay.  I think that is everything, or at least the highlights.  So now you.  We haven't heard much from you lately.
So if we don't get  much, at least answer these:
1-How are you and your comp getting along?
2-When are transfers, and do you think you will move this time?
3-Who are you teaching? How did you meet them?
4-Tell us about where you live.  What is the area like?
5-Are your shoes holding up?  Are you holding up?
6-Are you getting enough to eat?  Tell us about some of your dinner appointments.
You get the idea, right?

Tonight we were outside playing with the goat.  It wanted to climb on the dog house, cuz goats do that.  Natty got up on top, and then the goat decided it could jump from a chair to the top.  It was so funny to see the goat climbing all over Natty, and around the ledge of the house.  I will try to attach the video, but if it doesn't work, laugh anyway.
I love you.  Work hard.  Take care of yourself and your comp.  Be safe.
